Fire erupts near blood bank of Civil Hospital Ludhiana

A fire suddenly broke out in the vacant space behind the blood bank of the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana, Punjab, on Saturday morning. The fire caused panic in the hospital, but thanks to the prompt action of the staff and the fire department, the fire was quickly brought under control. There were no casualties.

A person saw the flames and raised an alarm. Upon receiving the information, SMO Akhil Sarin also arrived at the scene.

The staff tried to control the fire with the help of fire extinguishers. Seeing the fire spreading, the fire brigade was informed. Fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control after about a quarter of an hour.

Cause behind fire not known 

The exact cause of the fire is still unknown. However, people nearby suspect that due to the vacant space, drug addicts often gather there and smoke cigarettes. It is possible that the fire was started by a cigarette but can be ruled out only after the investigation.
