April 7, 2026

Jamshedpur: In an incident that raises serious questions about law and order, unidentified miscreants opened fire in broad daylight at the house of BJP leader Sapan Das in the Adityapur area on Tuesday. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed nearby.

Attack in broad daylight

According to preliminary information, the attackers arrived on a scooter and fired at least three rounds, targeting the window of Sapan Das’s house. The incident took place in Saldih Basti of Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers also used abusive language during the firing and then fled the scene, spreading panic in the area.

No casualties, but terror

Although no one was injured in the firing, an atmosphere of fear and tension has prevailed in the area. Locals have identified the attackers as Raju alias ‘Takla’ and Chandan, who are said to be active criminals in the area.

Allegations of police negligence

Locals and BJP workers accused the police administration of negligence. They say that the same accused were also involved in a violent incident on April 4th, but the lack of strict action at that time emboldened them.

Investigation launched, search for accused underway

Upon receiving information about the incident, Adityapur Police Station in-charge Inspector Vinod Tirkey arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. He stated that the accused have been identified and raids are underway to apprehend them.

Security increased in the area

Following this incident, tension has gripped the Saldih settlement. Locals are demanding increased police patrolling and stricter enforcement of law and order. Police are raiding several locations to search for the accused.
