Firing on Devotees Jalandhar to Anandpur Sahib Case

Jalandhar, April 14: Late Monday night, a life-threatening attack was carried out against a group of devotees traveling from Jalandhar to pay obeisance at Sri Anandpur Sahib. Between Kiratpur Sahib and Anandpur Sahib, unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire upon the devotees, who were traveling in tractor-trolleys.

The attackers themselves had arrived riding in tractor-trolleys. Fortunately, no lives were lost in this firing incident, though the vehicles sustained bullet marks. Following the incident, significant outrage is being observed among the victims regarding the conduct of the police.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers targeted the devotees’ vehicles and trolleys directly, without any warning. Within moments, chaos erupted at the scene. The entire area was shaken by the sound of gunfire. A matter of relief was that, despite such heavy firing, no one was struck by a bullet, and all the devotees escaped unhurt.

Deep Bullet Marks on Tractors and Other Vehicles

The images that have emerged from the scene following the incident are quite alarming. Deep bullet marks are clearly visible on the tractors and other vehicles. The victims allege that the attackers arrived fully prepared, and their sole objective was to cause harm. After the firing ceased, the attackers managed to flee the scene.

Police Attitude Described as Extremely Lax

Following the incident, the devotees lodged a complaint with the police; however, they allege that the police’s attitude was extremely lax. The victims claim that the police remained bogged down in a jurisdictional dispute (between Kiratpur Sahib and Anandpur Sahib) and failed to take the matter seriously.
