Firing Outside Civil Hospital in Ludhiana during violent clash; Youth injured

A violent incident unfolded in Ludhiana early Tuesday morning. Gunshots rang out during a violent clash between two rival groups outside the Civil Hospital. In this attack, a young man named Dharmendra sustained a gunshot wound to his leg; given his critical condition, he has been referred to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC). The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, in which the attackers can be seen striking with sharp-edged weapons.

Dispute Began at Kochar Market, Escalated to the Hospital

Police investigations revealed that the dispute originated near Kochar Market. Near the Jawahar Nagar Camp, a group of people was preparing buses for a religious pilgrimage. During this process, a minor altercation broke out between them and some youths from the opposing faction. The situation quickly spiraled out of control, leading the accused to launch an attack using sharp-edged weapons, leaving three people injured.

Ambushed En Route; Shots Fired

As the injured group was heading toward the Civil Hospital to seek medical treatment and undergo an examination, the rival group gave chase. Near the hospital, the attackers once again cornered them and fired three rounds in broad daylight. One bullet struck Dharmendra directly in the leg, causing him to collapse on the spot.

What Did the CCTV Footage Reveal?

The police have obtained CCTV footage of the incident. The video clearly shows two to three youths surrounding an individual and repeatedly striking him with sharp-edged weapons. The sound of gunfire is distinctly audible in the footage. However, the face of the accused who fired the shots is not clearly visible in the footage; to identify him, the police are currently scouring footage from other nearby cameras.

What Do the Police Say?

The dispute began at the Jawahar Nagar Camp over buses being prepared for a pilgrimage. Following the initial altercation, as one group was heading toward the hospital, the opposing group ambushed them en route. One individual sustained injuries in the ensuing gunfire. Police teams are currently conducting raids to apprehend the accused.
