5 arrested with ‘Chitta’ in Bilaspur; Police raid Hotel

The Bilaspur Police have taken significant action as part of the ongoing campaign against drug traffickers in Himachal Pradesh. Acting on a raid at a private hotel located in Lakhanpur, the police arrested three young men and two young women. A substantial quantity of ‘Chitta’ (heroin) was recovered from their possession.

The police had received a confidential tip-off indicating that certain suspicious individuals were staying in Room No. 205 of Hotel Balaji in the city. Acting swiftly on this information, a team from the Sadar Police Station, Bilaspur, raided the hotel. This sudden police operation caused panic among the accused present in the room.

15.85 Grams of ‘Chitta’ Recovered During Search

During the raid, the police detained the three young men and two young women present at the scene. Upon conducting a search, a total of 15.85 grams of ‘Chitta’ was recovered from them. The arrested accused have been identified as Veerabha (Village Raipur Sahora, District Una), Dheeraj Kumar (Village Bathu, Haroli, Una), Anuj Sandhu alias Akshu (Village Barsand, Geharwin, Jhanduta, Bilaspur), Anjali Sharma (Village Ganvi, Tehsil Rampur, District Shimla), and Pooja (Rekong Peo, District Kinnaur).

Planning to Sell Drugs Locally

The police have registered a case against all the accused under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. Confirming the incident, Bilaspur SP Sandeep Dhawal stated that preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were not only consuming drugs but were also planning to sell them at the local level.

The police are now conducting a thorough investigation into this matter. The objective is to identify other individuals who may be linked to this drug network.
