Flash flood in Bhaderwah due to heavy rain, Jammu-Srinagar highway blocked

Heavy rains continue to lash North India. Heavy rains in Jammu led to flash floods in Bhaderwah in Doda district. As a result, landslides also occurred at several places. Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (Jammu–Srinagar NH-44) was disrupted on Tuesday morning as incessant rains across the region led to landslides and rockfalls at several places.

Advisory issued

Officials said that travelers have been strongly advised to avoid traveling on NH-44 until the weather improves and cleaning work is completed. “People are requested to check the latest road conditions on the official Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page or contact TCU directly before starting their journey,” the officials said.

The authorities said that as per the advisory, traffic is moving on SSG Road and Mughal Road, while Sinthan Road is closed. People have been asked to avoid unnecessary travel as the weather is still rainy.

Flash flood in Neeru Nallah in Bhaderwah

According to official data, Jammu recorded 81.5 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours till 8:30 am, while Banihal recorded 28.3 mm, Batot 36.9 mm, Katra 68.8 mm, Bhaderwah 99.8 mm, Kathua 155.6 mm, Jammu Airport 81.4 mm, Udhampur 92.4 mm, Ramban 29.5 mm, Kishtwar 34.0 mm, Rajouri 0.4 mm, Reasi 67.0 mm, Samba 99.5 mm and Barmal 137.5 mm rainfall, while data from Poonch is not available.

Officials said the situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be shared accordingly.
