Following PM’s Fuel Conservation Push, UP Govt Reduces VIP Motorcades, Promotes WFH

Yogi Adityanath has taken a major decision following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to save fuel and reduce unnecessary expenditure. The Chief Minister held a meeting with officials and issued several important directives regarding resource conservation.

The government has announced steps such as reducing VIP convoys, working from home, saving electricity, and promoting indigenous products.

Instructions to reduce VIP convoys by half

Yogi Adityanath has ordered an immediate reduction of the number of vehicles in the Chief Minister’s and ministerial convoys by 50 percent. Unnecessary vehicles have also been removed from the government fleet.

He appealed to ministers, MPs, and MLAs to use public transport at least once a week. He also suggested observing a “No Vehicle Day.”

Emphasis on Work from Home and Online Meetings

The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to promote work from home for industries, startups, and large offices for at least two days a week.

The Chief Minister also directed that about half of the Secretariat’s meetings, seminars, and workshops be held virtually to reduce fuel consumption.

Promotion of Electricity Saving and Swadeshi

Yogi Adityanath appealed to people to avoid unnecessary electricity use in homes, offices, and commercial buildings. He said that decorative lighting in malls and private buildings should be reduced after 10 pm.

The government will also promote cycling, car-pooling, and electric vehicles. Emphasis has also been placed on increasing the use of school buses.

Appeal to reduce foreign travel and gold purchases

The Chief Minister appealed to avoid unnecessary foreign travel for the next six months and promote domestic tourism. To this end, a “Visit My State” campaign is planned.

He also called for promoting the use of Indian products during festivals and weddings and reducing unnecessary gold purchases. Government departments have been instructed to use ODOP and GI-tagged products as official gifts.
