New Delhi: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has roll back its decision to remove A-1 and A-2 claims from milk products within six days. Six days ago, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a strict notification instructing milk product companies in India to remove A-1 and A-2 claims advertisements from their product packaging within six months.

The Health and Family Welfare’s FSSAI Department reversed its decision within six days. In a new order, FSSAI announced the withdrawal of the notification dated 21-08-2024 for further consultation and engagement with stakeholders. Director Rakesh Kumar stated in the order that this decision was made with the approval of the competent authority.

In his previous order the Ministry has issued a notice to all the milk product manufacturing companies registered with FSSAI that they should remove their A-1 and A-2 claims from the packaging and advertisements within six months and send their reply to the Ministry.
