Former AAP Jalandhar North Constituency incharge Dinesh Dhall Joins BJP

Jalandhar: Dinesh Dhall, who served as the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) constituency in-charge for Jalandhar North Assembly seat, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday.

Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon welcomed Dhall into the party. Before joining the BJP, Dhall met the state BJP chief at Hotel Radisson in Jalandhar and expressed his desire to join the party.

Dhall’s Exit Triggers Speculation Over AAP MLA

Dhall’s move to the BJP has also triggered political speculation over AAP MLA from Jalandhar Central, Raman Arora.

Political circles are abuzz with speculation that Arora could also join the BJP. However, Arora has not confirmed any such move.

Dhall Was Unhappy With AAP Leadership

There had been speculation that Dhall could switch parties after Jalandhar Central Mayor Vineet Dhir was appointed as the AAP’s constituency in-charge.

Dhall had reportedly been unhappy with the party high command since Dhir’s appointment. After being removed as constituency in-charge, Dhall had said in an interview that his next step would become clear when the time was right.

His chances of joining the Congress were considered limited due to his old political rivalry with the party, leaving the BJP as the likely option.

AAP Had Inducted 13 Workers a Day Earlier

Dhall’s BJP entry comes a day after the AAP inducted 13 workers from the BJP, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal in the Jalandhar North constituency.

The AAP had said several prominent leaders and families associated with the BJP, Congress and Akali Dal for a long time had left their respective parties to join the ruling party.

The joining was held under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister’s OSD Rajbir Singh Ghumman and under the guidance of constituency in-charge and Mayor Vineet Dhir.
