What was the case about?
IB officer Ankit Sharma went missing during the communal riots that erupted in North-East Delhi in February 2020. His body, bearing deep injury marks, was recovered the following day from a drain near the Chand Bagh culvert.
An FIR was registered against Tahir Hussain and others at the Dayalpur Police Station based on a complaint filed by Ankit Sharma’s father. According to the prosecution, Tahir Hussain played a pivotal role in instigating the mob of rioters and orchestrating the entire conspiracy. Following the conviction, arguments regarding the quantum of the sentence will take place soon.
