New Delhi: Akali Dal has strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government, saying Punjabis have rejected the anti-Punjab policies brought by business-minded ministers and advisors from Delhi, which were aimed at controlling and grabbing land in the state.

After facing strong opposition over the ‘Land Pooling Policy,’ the government has now also been forced to withdraw the ‘Unified Building Rules 2025.’ The party said this clearly shows how poorly planned and disconnected these policies were from Punjab’s ground realities.

Delhi Model Not Suitable for Punjab

Akali Dal leaders said they had opposed the Unified Building Rules 2025 from the very beginning. According to them, these rules were copied from Delhi and the National Building Code of India without considering Punjab’s agriculture-based economy and local conditions.

They questioned why an urban model like Delhi was being imposed on Punjab when the state is not facing major population growth and has very different needs compared to metro cities.

Threat to Punjab’s Fertile Agricultural Land

The party claimed that both the Unified Building Rules 2025 and the Land Pooling Policy together posed a serious threat to Punjab’s fertile land. They said these policies were creating a double attack on farming land by encouraging unnecessary urban expansion and turning productive fields into concrete structures.

Leaders warned that such policies could damage Punjab’s agricultural strength and long-term economic stability.

Call for Strong Public Opposition

The party also said that people must understand these are not just policy changes, but part of a bigger plan to control Punjab’s land and resources. They urged the public to strongly oppose such moves and protect the state’s identity and interests.

Akali Dal praised the struggle led by the Public Action Committee, lawyers, and aware citizens, saying their efforts played an important role in safeguarding Punjab’s future and stopping harmful policies.
