Former DIG Harcharan Bhullar pleads for bail again, High Court adjourns hearing for July 7

Former DIG of Punjab Harcharan Singh Bhullar, who is embroiled in a corruption case, has once again filed a bail application in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. However, the High Court has adjourned the hearing till July 7 without issuing any order.

Let us tell you that after the High Court, the Supreme Court has also rejected Bhullar’s bail petition. While rejecting the petition, the Supreme Court had granted an exemption to Bhullar for not starting the trial within two months, which has now been made the basis in the application.

Suspended DIG of Punjab Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar, arrested in a corruption case, has once again knocked on the door of the High Court for regular bail. Bhullar had filed this petition citing the freedom granted by the Supreme Court in April. It is noteworthy that Bhullar had earlier sought bail from the Supreme Court after the High Court rejected his petition.

According to reports, on April 10, the Supreme Court had rejected Bhullar’s bail plea but allowed him to seek bail again if the trial against him does not start within two months.

Now, Bhullar has said in his plea that the investigation has been completed and the chargesheet has been filed. He argued that since most of the witnesses are government officials and he himself is currently under suspension, there is no possibility of influencing witnesses or tampering with evidence; therefore, he should be granted bail.
