Former Rajya Sabha MP Santanu Sen resigns from TMC spokesperson role

Santanu Sen, senior TMC leader and former Rajya Sabha MP, has resigned from the post of the party’s national spokesperson, citing growing discomfort over several controversies and corruption allegations linked to the Trinamool Congress.

In his resignation letter addressed to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, Sen said that although he had defended the party publicly during difficult times and controversial issues, he could no longer continue in the role given the current situation in West Bengal.

He referred to public anger over issues such as the RG Kar case, the Abhaya case and the alleged cash-for-jobs scam, stating that people in Bengal had “rejected” the party over various immoral acts and corruption allegations. Sen said his conscience no longer allowed him to support these matters as the party spokesperson and requested the leadership to accept his resignation.

The resignation has sparked political discussion in West Bengal, with opposition parties likely to use the development to target the ruling Trinamool Congress ahead of upcoming political battles in the state.
