Fortuner Crashes into Parked Pickup in Jalandhar; no loss of life reported

A horrific road accident occurred today on the Jalandhar Bus Stand flyover, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. In a violent collision between a speeding Fortuner SUV and a pickup vehicle loaded with goods, the cargo vehicle overturned.

Consequently, the valuable crockery stored inside was scattered across the road and smashed to smithereens. Fortunately, no lives were lost in this accident, though both the vehicles and the cargo sustained heavy damage.

Police personnel from the Bus Stand outpost arrived at the scene, brought the situation under control, and worked to clear the resulting traffic jam.

The driver of the pickup who was present at the scene stated that he was transporting crockery—including cups, plates, and other utensils. While on the flyover, his vehicle suddenly stalled due to a technical malfunction. According to the driver, he pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road to attempt repairs and, as a safety precaution, had activated his rear indicators and displayed other warning signals.

The driver alleges that, at that very moment, a white Fortuner SUV approaching from behind at high speed crashed directly into his stationary vehicle. The impact was so severe that the vehicle overturned right in the middle of the road. The force of the collision triggered the Fortuner’s airbags, thereby saving its occupants from sustaining serious injuries. According to eyewitnesses, had the airbags not deployed, the accident could have resulted in significant loss of life.

The individual who suffered the greatest financial loss in this accident is the merchant whose goods were scheduled for delivery. Shards of glass and broken body panels were seen scattered all over the road.

Following the accident, long queues of vehicles formed on the flyover. The In-charge of the Bus Stand Outpost arrived with a police team, moved the damaged vehicles to the side, and restored the smooth flow of traffic.

Police Action

Police officials state that they are recording the statements of both parties involved. Their immediate priority was to clear the traffic to ensure that the general public faced no inconvenience. The police will now take further action in this matter based on the findings of their investigation.
