Four Killed, Including Minor Girl, in Tragic Road Accident Near Dindori, MP

Dindori (Madhya Pradesh): Four persons, including a minor girl, were killed in a fatal road accident on Wednesday along the Jabalpur–Amarkant road near Kohni village in Dindori district, police said.

According to officials, the victims were travelling on a motorcycle when it collided with a heavy trailer under circumstances that remain under investigation. The impact was so severe that all four riders — believed to be from the same family — sustained fatal injuries.

Police arrived shortly after the crash and found a teenage girl (around 13–14 years old) in critical condition. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries on the way and was declared brought dead.

The man riding the motorcycle died on the spot, while two adult women accompanying him also lost their lives in the collision.

Victims Yet to Be Identified

Speaking to IANS, Anurag Jamdar, investigating officer and in-charge of Shahpura police station, said that the identities of the victims are yet to be confirmed, as no eyewitnesses or relatives were present at the scene.

“Preliminary findings suggest that the victims may have belonged to either Chourai in Chhindwara district or Dhanauli village,” Jamdar said.

Police have contacted the sarpanch of Dhanauli, who is travelling to the site to help with identification.

Driver Absconding

Jamdar added that initial evidence indicates the trailer driver may have braked suddenly, leading to the collision.

“The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident, and efforts are on to trace and apprehend him,” he said, adding that mechanical failure or reckless driving are also being examined as possible causes.

Highway Safety Concerns

The tragedy has renewed concerns about road safety along the Jabalpur–Amarkant corridor, a route frequently used by both two-wheelers and heavy vehicles.

Local residents and commuters have long demanded stricter monitoring, better traffic regulation, and improved road infrastructure to prevent such accidents.

Police said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and identify those responsible.
