Four youths killed after tractor-trolley overturns in Dindori, MP

Bhopal/Anuppur: Four youths from Bhimkundi village lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Sunday morning in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh. The tractor-trolley they were travelling in overturned into a deep pit.

They were going to collect road construction material (gravel) from Pauni village in neighbouring Anuppur district.

Driver lost control at a sharp turn

The incident occurred between 5:45 and 6 a.m. in the Karanpathar police station area.

According to police, Ankush Uike, who was driving the tractor, lost control at a sharp turn, causing the heavily loaded trolley to veer off the road and fall into a pit where soil excavation was underway.

Four die crushed under trolley

After the trolley overturned, the four young men riding in it were crushed under it and died on the spot.

Senior Investigating Officer of Karanpathar Police Station, Virendra Barkur, said that the deceased have been identified as Ankush Uike (24), Brajesh Pendo (18), Ravindra Kumar (18), and Chandra Prakash Marco (17).

All four were close friends and residents of Bhimkundi village in Dindori district.

Bodies retrieved with JCB, investigation underway

They had left early in the morning to collect construction material. Locals who arrived at the scene immediately after the accident informed the police.

A rescue operation was launched, and the bodies were pulled out by removing the overturned trolley with the help of a JCB machine. It took considerable effort to remove the bodies buried under the heavy vehicle. “All four died on the spot,” the official said.

The bodies have been sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and are investigating whether any technical fault or overloading played a role in the accident.

Senior police officials visited the scene and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

The incident has spread grief in Bhimkundi and surrounding villages. As soon as the news spread, relatives and villagers began gathering at the homes of the deceased.

The district administration has assured all possible assistance to the families of the deceased.
