New Delhi: The fourth Indian flight carrying essential relief supplies and specialised technical assistance has landed in Kathmandu to support Nepal’s ongoing rescue and relief operations following devastating floods, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said on Sunday.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130 aircraft carried additional assistance for the Himalayan nation, including specialised teams and equipment to strengthen search, rescue and relief efforts.
“The fourth Indian flight has touched down in Kathmandu. It brings essential supplies and technical capabilities to support Nepal’s ongoing rescue & relief operations,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.
Fourth India flight carries 11 tonnes of assistance
Earlier, Jaishankar said the fourth flight was carrying 11 tonnes of assistance to Nepal.
The C-130 aircraft transported a tunnel technical contingent and equipment for search and rescue operations, along with a team of forensic experts and equipment for DNA analysis.

The specialised teams and equipment are expected to strengthen Nepal’s ongoing efforts to locate, rescue and assist people affected by the floods.
India sends bridge equipment to restore infrastructure
India is also extending substantial technical assistance to help Nepal restore critical infrastructure damaged by the floods.
Jaishankar said 16 trucks carrying equipment for a 230-foot Single Lane Modular Steel Bridge had reached Nepal. Equipment for installing seven more Bailey bridges will also be supplied soon.
Technical teams required for the installation of the bridges are expected to reach Nepal shortly.
The infrastructure support is aimed at helping restore connectivity in areas where roads and bridges have been damaged by the floods.
India airlifts 68.5 tonnes of relief material
So far, India has airlifted a total of 68.5 tonnes of relief material to Kathmandu as part of its emergency assistance to Nepal.
The assistance includes:
“Our support to the relief and rescue efforts of Nepal continues,” Jaishankar said.
India’s Nepal relief operation
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India began its emergency relief assistance to Nepal on Wednesday.
An IAF C-130J Hercules aircraft initially airlifted 10 tonnes of emergency relief material to Nepal. The consignment included temporary shelters, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps and medicines.
On Thursday, an IAF C-17 Globemaster aircraft transported another 37.5 tonnes of relief items to Nepal.
That consignment included 28.5 tonnes of tents, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps, dewatering pumps, kitchen sets and generator sets, along with eight tonnes of medicines and one tonne of food items.
The latest flight is part of India’s continued humanitarian assistance to Nepal amid the devastating floods. Along with immediate relief supplies, India is providing specialised technical support and infrastructure equipment to assist Nepal’s rescue operations and the restoration of essential services and connectivity.
