Fresh Complaint Filed Against Abhishek Banerjee in Diamond Harbour Over 2020 Attack Case

Kolkata: A fresh police complaint has been filed against Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee in connection with an alleged attack on a BJP programme in Diamond Harbour in 2020.

BJP leader Abhijit Das alias Bobby filed the written complaint at Diamond Harbour police station on Thursday, naming Abhishek Banerjee and 78 others, including his executive assistant Sumit Roy.

Complaint Linked to 2020 Attack

According to Das, the incident took place on October 6, 2020, when BJP leaders and workers were travelling to a political programme in Diamond Harbour, South 24 Parganas.

He alleged that an attack was carried out during the programme, in which the car of West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya was vandalised. Several BJP workers and supporters were also allegedly injured.

Das claimed that despite a police investigation at the time, no proper action was taken against those allegedly involved.

BJP Leader Alleges Political Influence

The BJP leader alleged that the investigation into the 2020 incident did not proceed in the right direction due to political influence.

He also questioned the role of the police at the time and said justice had not been delivered to those affected by the alleged attack.

Das said the old case had been brought back to the forefront and demanded a fresh and impartial investigation without political pressure.

Demand for Action Against Those Named

After filing the complaint, Das said the police should investigate the role of every person named in the complaint and take action according to law if the allegations are established.

He also alleged that there could have been a larger conspiracy behind the 2020 incident and urged authorities to examine all aspects of the case.

Das has previously filed several complaints against Abhishek Banerjee in Diamond Harbour, including allegations related to corruption and irregularities concerning the MP’s medical camp initiative, ‘Sebaashray’.
