Friend murdered and buried in home, secret revealed after 5 months

Jalandhar: In a sensational case in the city, a man murdered his 20-year-old friend and buried the body in their home. The accused has been identified as Gurdev Singh, while the deceased was Amarjeet Singh.

It was reported that on November 13, 2025, the two had an argument over money while drinking. The accused claims that he simply pushed Amarjeet, causing him to fall and die. However, the police are investigating this claim.

Body buried by digging a pit near the bathroom

After the murder, the accused panicked and dug a 5-6 feet deep pit near the bathroom of the house to dispose of the body.

He packed the body in a plastic bag, placed it in a pit, and covered it with soil to avoid suspicion and prevent the smell from escaping.

Surprisingly, the accused continued sleeping in the same house for five months without informing anyone.

Case uncovered by nephew’s suspicion

The deceased’s nephew, Amanpreet Singh, became suspicious of Gurdev’s statements. He filed a complaint at Shahkot police station and demanded a police investigation.

After lingering suspicion for five months, the police finally began a serious investigation on April 1, 2026.

Confessed to crime during police investigation

The accused was detained and interrogated by a team formed under the direction of SSP Harvinder Singh Virk.

Initially, he remained unconvinced, but when technical evidence, such as mobile location and call records, surfaced, he confessed to the crime.

On April 2, a decomposed body was recovered from a sack after digging in the presence of a magistrate. Police are now taking further action based on the postmortem and DNA testing.
