    Gangster-Police encounter in Chandigarh; Two shot in legs

    A police encounter took place in Sector 32 of Chandigarh with gangsters who had fired at a chemist shop, resulting in two gangsters being shot in the leg. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. These gangsters were associated with the SP gang and had also threatened a businessman a few days ago.

    The three gangsters were traveling in a car. When the police chased them, their car collided with a pole, and all three were injured. During the subsequent encounter with the police, two of the criminals, identified as Rahul and Ricky, were shot, while the third accomplice was driving the car.

    According to sources, the accused had planned to fire at a taxi stand today and had demanded Rs. 50 lakh. They had come to Chandigarh specifically to carry out this shooting and were also involved in previous shooting incidents in Chandigarh.

    Here’s what happened

    Following the shooting incident at the chemist shop in Sector 32 a few days ago, the police of all police stations in Chandigarh, including the Crime Branch, were on high alert. An accused was arrested yesterday who had colluded with the gangsters to carry out the shooting.

    The police interrogated the accused. As soon as the Chandigarh police received information today that the accused might be in the area bordering Mohali, the police tried to surround them early in the morning. The accused were traveling in a car.

    The team of Inspector Jasvir Singh, the SHO of Maloya Police Station, was also involved in the operation. When the police tried to stop the accused, they opened fire. In the police’s retaliatory action, Rahul was shot in the leg, and another person was also shot.

    The driver tried to escape in the car, but the police surrounded it. During this time, the car collided with a pole. The police then apprehended them. The young man who was driving the car is named Preet. He is a resident of Zirakpur and is a friend of the accused.
