Gautam Adani: India’s Youth Should Lead the AI Revolution

Ahmedabad: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said on Sunday that India is now entering a decisive technological phase, where technology, talent, and national purpose move hand in hand. He called on the younger generation to not just be consumers of AI, but to become creators and leaders of it.

Adani made this statement during the inauguration of the Sharad Pawar Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CoE-AI) at Vidya Pratishthan in Baramati, Maharashtra. He said,

“India’s enduring strength lies in its ability to connect people, institutions, and long-term vision. This clarity will now guide young people to become not just users of AI, but creators and leaders of capability.”

AI will enhance human potential and opportunity

Gautam Adani said that concerns about AI can be addressed by learning from history. He explained that every major technological change, whether it’s the Industrial Revolution or India’s digital revolution, has been amplifying human potential.

He said, “AI will further advance this transformation. It will bring intelligence and productivity into the hands of ordinary citizens and provide opportunities for young people from all backgrounds to participate in development.”

He also clarified that AI leadership should not be dependent on foreign countries. Adani said, “In a world where intelligence is shaping economic power and national influence, reliance on foreign algorithms can be risky. It is essential to maintain data, decision-making, and capabilities in the national interest.”

He emphasized the need to build indigenous AI models, robust computing capabilities, and a robust intelligence ecosystem. He said this is also crucial for India’s economic security, cultural confidence, and strategic independence.

Sharad Pawar Center of Excellence: Promoting Education and Research in AI

Gautam Adani also shared the objectives of the center on this occasion. The center aims to promote advanced research, skill development, and industry-oriented training in emerging technologies. Adani contributed ₹25 crore to this center in 2023.

The center will focus specifically on AI applications in agriculture, healthcare, governance, and industry. It will also foster collaboration between academic institutions and the private sector. Adani stated that this initiative will provide an opportunity to empower young talent for AI leadership in India.

Gautam Adani also stated that the Adani Group is making significant investments in data centers, digital infrastructure, and clean energy, increasing India’s participation in the global AI ecosystem. Continued engagement with global technology leaders like Google and Microsoft clearly demonstrates that India is now becoming a significant hub for AI-based development.
