    Geeta Phogat, Saweety Boora Join Fit India Sundays on Cycle Women’s Special Edition

    New Delhi: Geeta Phogat, India’s first female Commonwealth Games gold medalist and Olympic qualifier, participated in the special women’s edition of “Fit India Sundays on Cycle” held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. Around 1,000 women participated in the event. This initiative is part of the Fit India Movement launched by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

    Fitness becomes a mass movement, women’s participation increases
    Geeta Phogat said that she thoroughly enjoyed the event and was pleased to see that a large number of women, including young mothers, children, and elderly women, participated in cycling. She said that Fit India has now become a mass movement, with people taking fitness seriously.

    This special edition saw simultaneous events held at over 2,000 locations across the country, making it one of the Fit India Movement’s largest grassroots fitness events.

    The event was packed with sports and fitness activities
    The event began with activities such as yoga, Zumba, rope jumping, Mallakhamb, and tug-of-war. Several prominent sports figures participated, including Geeta Phogat, boxer Saviti Bora, judoka and Roadies finalist Priya Sharma, Fit India icon Milind Soman, and actresses Ragini Dwivedi and Ankita Konwar.

    Milind Soman exercised with the participants and also participated in tug-of-war, adding to the spirit of the atmosphere.

    Emphasis on women’s health and empowerment
    Saviti Bora said that a woman is the foundation of the family, and if she remains healthy, she can contribute to the health of the entire family and the progress of society. He said that women are now becoming more health conscious, and this is a positive change.

    At the end of the event, all participants cycled around India Gate, spreading the message of fitness and a healthy lifestyle. The event aimed to inspire women to adopt fitness in a simple, accessible, and effective way.
