Massive Fire Destroys AC Service Centre in Ghaziabad; Elderly Man Killed

GHAZIABAD: A massive fire broke out at an air conditioner service centre in Ghaziabad during the early hours of Saturday, killing an elderly man and causing extensive damage to nearby property and vehicles.

The incident took place in the densely populated Patel Nagar area, where repeated explosions from AC gas cylinders and compressors triggered panic among local residents.

Huge flames and thick black smoke engulfed the three-storey building housing the AC service centre as fire department teams rushed to the spot to control the blaze.

    Repeated Explosions Trigger Panic

According to fire department officials, information about the fire at plot number F-87 in Patel Nagar was received around 3:05 a.m. Teams from the Kotwali fire station immediately reached the scene with multiple fire tenders.

By the time firefighters arrived, the entire building had already been engulfed in flames. Officials said gas cylinders and AC compressors stored inside the premises exploded continuously, making rescue and firefighting operations difficult.

The narrow lanes and congested residential surroundings further increased fears of the fire spreading to nearby buildings.

Eight Fire Tenders Put Into Service

The fire department launched a large-scale operation to contain the blaze, deploying multiple water lines to stop the flames from spreading further.

As the fire intensified, additional fire tenders from Vaishali, Sahibabad and Modinagar were called in. Nearly eight fire engines were used during the operation.

After several hours of continuous efforts, firefighters finally managed to bring the blaze under control.

Elderly Man Found Dead After Fire

During a search operation after the flames were extinguished, firefighters recovered the body of an elderly man from the ground floor of the building. He was identified as 80-year-old Triloki Nath.

The fire also caused heavy damage to nearby vehicles, destroying two cars and around ten motorcycles parked close to the building.

Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
