Ghaziabad Police Outpost Blast Takes New Turn! Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen Claims Responsibility, Probe Intensifies

Ghaziabad: An investigation into an explosion at the Vasundhara police outpost in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh has taken a new twist after it was claimed by a social media account linked to the Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen Hindustan organisation. The incident, which took place on Friday night (November 6), left a food delivery worker injured and a multi-agency investigation has been launched into what caused the injury and damage to the police outpost.

The blast, which took place at around 9pm, broke two panes of glass from windows at the police outpost in the Indirapuram police station area, and caused some cracks to part of the building.

A 20-year-old delivery worker, Vishal, was injured after a shard of broken glass hit him in the head. He was rushed to a private hospital but is now reported to be in stable condition. A Sub-Inspector was also at the outpost during the explosion and none of the police force were injured.

Social Media Account Claims Responsibility For The Ghaziabad Explosion

A post was made online by an account on X named ‘Ghazi 2’ claiming responsibility for the blast on behalf of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen Hindustan.

The post claimed the blast was an act of protest against the government and even threatened to explode the police station. It also mentioned claims of government action such as bulldozer attacks and camps in Assam.

However, it is not known if the post is genuine or if the group is responsible. India Today reported that they have not confirmed the claim. The police are investigating the account, message and people behind the post.

UP ATS, Forensics Get Involved In Investigation

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Forensics and bomb defusing teams have been brought in to investigate what exactly caused the explosion.

Ghaziabad Deputy Commissioner Of Police Rizul Kumar stated that there was no evidence of explosives, gun powder or chemical residue found during initial investigations. Forensic teams have taken samples to analyse.

Police Commissioner J. Ravinder Goud has also visited the scene and said they are gathering as much evidence as possible. He added that once the investigation and forensics have been completed they will know what exactly caused the explosion.

The Delhi Police Special Cell have also arrived to help with the investigation.

Blast Or Fire Cracker? Police Are Investigating

Although the social media post has raised security concerns, there is nothing to confirm the incident was a terrorist attack.

Initial reports suggest it may have been caused by a fire cracker falling into the air con unit. This has not been confirmed.

Teams are investigating what caused the damage to the equipment, gathering forensic evidence and confirming if the online claim is true. Officials are also investigating if it was an accident or intentional.

The investigation is still ongoing and there is no confirmation of the social media post making the claim linking to the Vasundhara police outpost explosion.
