Former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh Questions Punjab Govt for Preferring Delhi, UP Firms Over Punjab’s Own Operators

Chandigarh: Former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh has criticised the Punjab government on social media, alleging that while the state talks about promoting local youth and businesses, companies from outside states are being given priority in government contracts.

Local employment vs. contracts for outside companies

Giani Harpreet Singh said that the message is being given repeatedly in Punjab that locals should be given priority in the markets and that the youth should stop hesitating to take up menial jobs. However, on the contrary, the government has given all the vehicle contracts for the martyrdom centenary celebrations of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and the Chief Minister’s Tirath Yatra Scheme to companies from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

“Why are operators from Punjab being ignored?”

The former Jathedar says that despite the presence of thousands of private bus owners and yatra operators in Punjab, the financial benefits of government schemes are being given to other states. He questioned whether the government does not have confidence in the capabilities of Punjab’s transport operators.

Questions were also raised about the leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party

In his post, he also alleged that the interests of individuals associated with the Delhi leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party could be behind these contracts. However, this claim could not be independently verified.

“What happened to the employment of Punjabi youth?”

Giani Harpreet Singh asked the government why big contracts are being given to companies from outside states when there is a need to provide employment to the youth of the state.

He said that every Punjabi has every right to raise this question.
