Giani Harpreet Singh Visits Ailing Mother of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara

Amritsar (Punjab): Giani Harpreet Singh, former Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, on Friday visited the family home of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, who has been under detention for a long time, to inquire about the health of his ailing mother.

During the visit, Giani Harpreet Singh expressed concern over her condition and offered prayers to Guru Sahib for her speedy recovery.

He described Bhai Hawara as a “warrior of the Sikh community”, who has made significant contributions at the Panthic level through his struggle and leadership.

Call for Parole

Giani Harpreet Singh highlighted the alleged discrimination faced by Sikh prisoners, stressing that Bhai Hawara should be granted parole to meet his ailing mother. He contrasted the situation with that of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim, who despite facing serious charges has repeatedly been granted parole and furlough, while Sikh prisoners continue to be denied such rights.

Allegations of Injustice

He further stated that depriving Sikh prisoners of their legal and constitutional rights amounts to a violation of human rights. He urged the Government of India to release Bhai Hawara on parole immediately, allowing him to spend time with his mother in her time of illness.

Continued Advocacy

Reaffirming his commitment, Giani Harpreet Singh said that the Sikh leadership and community must continue united efforts for the release of imprisoned Sikhs. He assured the family that Panthic institutions and leaders would keep raising their voices for justice.

Several Panthic personalities were also present during the visit, expressing solidarity with the family and offering prayers for the recovery of Bhai Hawara’s mother.
