Gidderbaha: Dispute over water canal turns bloody; two died, three injured

The old dispute over a water canal in Kotha Dashmesh Nagar of Gidderbaha took a bloody turn. The dispute between the two parties escalated to the point that gunfire broke out. Two people died during the firing while three others were seriously injured.

The police have reached the spot and started an investigation and the matter is being investigated from all angles.

According to the information received, the old dispute over a water canal in Kotha Dashmesh Nagar, which comes under Kot Bhai Thane of Gidderbaha, took a violent turn late last night.

It is being told that the canal had been closed for a long time and when one party tried to reopen it, the other party came face to face in opposition to it. First there was an argument which soon turned into a fight and the situation became so uncontrollable that both sides attacked each other.

During this, shots were fired, due to which two people died on the spot, while three others were seriously injured. The deceased have been identified as Nirmal Singh and Baljit Singh. One of them was a resident of Dashmesh Nagar Kothe, while the other is said to be from Kotbhai area.

The injured were immediately taken to the Civil Hospital Muktsar Sahib, where they were referred further in view of their serious condition. Those identified as Rajwinder Singh, Darshan Singh, and Jagsir Singh, all three are brothers who have now been referred to Faridkot.

What Police said?

Talking about this matter, DSP Arun Mundal said that information was received around 8 pm that two people had been murdered in Kothe Dashmesh Nagar. Based on this information, the police team immediately reached the spot and also reached Gidderbaha Civil Hospital for further action.

He said that the initial investigation has revealed that the incident took place due to an old dispute regarding the Khal, but it is not yet clear which party fired the first shot or what the full motive of the incident was. The police are investigating from every angle and further legal action will be taken after collecting all the facts.
