After Goa, Blaze Erupts at Bhubaneswar Nightclub; Smoke Blankets Area

Bhubaneswar: Days after the tragic Goa nightclub fire, another major blaze was reported late Friday night at a nightclub in Bhubaneswar’s Satya Vihar area. The fire spread rapidly, sending thick black smoke billowing through the building within minutes. The exact cause is still unknown.

Fire Spreads Quickly, Adjacent Shop Engulfed

The flames intensified so quickly that a nearby furniture shop also caught fire. With large quantities of wood, mattresses and sponges stored inside, the fire spread rapidly and caused extensive damage. Locals said strong winds pushed the smoke across the market, drastically reducing visibility.

Fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and worked swiftly to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby homes and shops. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported. Officials suspect an electrical short circuit or operational negligence but say a full investigation will begin once the site cools down. Most items inside the bar were completely destroyed.

Locals Claim Club Was Running Without License

Residents alleged that the nightclub was operating without a valid licence, raising serious concerns about enforcement of safety rules. Police have sealed the premises and begun probing both the cause of the fire and the club’s licensing status.

Second Major Fire After Goa Tragedy

This incident comes just days after the devastating Goa nightclub fire that killed 25 people. Following that tragedy, the Odisha Fire and Emergency Service ordered a statewide safety audit of all restaurants and clubs with seating capacity over 100.

Meanwhile, in the Goa case, club owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra have been arrested in Thailand and are being extradited to India. Their passports have been revoked.
