Goa nightclub fire: Luthra brothers taken to Anjuna police station after medical examination

New Delhi: The Luthra brothers, Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, accused in the devastating fire at a nightclub in Arpora, Goa, will be produced before a court in Mapusa for regular remand proceedings. Authorities have confirmed that the Goa Police will interrogate the two in connection with the case.

The Anjuna police had already registered a case against the Luthra brothers under sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder (not murder) following the incident. The two accused were arrested in Delhi on Tuesday, where they were taken into custody after being deported from Thailand. A Delhi court granted the Goa Police a two-day transit remand.

    Preliminary Investigation into the Matter

The investigation revealed that the two accused fled to Phuket, Thailand, just hours after the fire broke out at the nightclub on December 7. Indian agencies subsequently issued an Interpol Blue Corner notice against them and their passports were revoked. On December 11, Thai authorities detained them in Phuket at the request of the Indian government, after which they were deported to India under bilateral legal agreements.

A team of Goa Police officers arrived with the accused at the Manohar International Airport in Mopa at 10:45 AM. From there, they were first taken to the primary health center in Siolim for an initial medical examination. They were then taken to the district hospital in Mapusa. After a medical examination that lasted over an hour, the two were brought to the Anjuna police station under tight security.

A convoy of six police vehicles was present throughout the operation, and for security reasons, the two brothers were transported in separate vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Goa Police have also arrested five managers and employees of the nightclub in connection with the tragic incident.
