Himachal: North India’s longest bridge to be built in two and a half years on Gobind Sagar Lake

North India’s longest 860-meter cable-stayed and viaduct bridge is ready to take shape on Gobind Sagar Lake. Now no need to rely on motorboats, no long detours. After two and a half years, the 860-meter-long bridge will be built on Gobind Sagar Lake. The route from Lathiani to Una will be reduced by 21 km. Not only will the journey be reduced by 40 minutes, but money will also be saved.

It will be easy for students to reach colleges in Una and Hamirpur. Sick people will not have to take motorboats or long routes for treatment. However, for this relief, about 4068 trees will be felled. About six panchayats will miss out on connecting to the bridge. These days, the trees to be cut for the bridge are being numbered.

The company is busy building a camp office

About 380 trees of the forest department, while other trees are to be cut from private land. After the tender was awarded by the ministry, SPS company has started building a camp office. The construction of the proposed bridge from Lathiani to Bihdu on the Gobind Sagar lake in Una district will reduce the distance of 14 villages across Lathiani to reach Una by 21 km.

The distance of Hamirpur-Una via Barsar will be reduced from 80 to 59 km. These 14 villages of two panchayats situated on the banks of Govind Sagar will not have to reach Una via Thanakalan and Bangana. People will be able to reach Una directly via Bihdu. The construction is being done by the Ministry of Transport and Highways. The land acquisition process is almost complete.

Total cost proposed is 897 crores

The total cost proposed is 897 crores. A 480-meter-long cable-stayed and 380-meter viaduct bridge will be built in the project. A total of eight km-long four-lane will also be built on both sides of the bridge. A 50-meter minor bridge and a 150-meter viaduct bridge will be built on the four-lane lane. Construction of two vehicle over passes and two vehicle under passes is also proposed in the project. A total of 11 structures will be built. A 3.353 km long four lane towards Lathiani and a 4.803 km long four lane towards Bihadu is also proposed. Currently, one has to take the help of motorboats. This project will pass through 14 villages. Currently, to go from Lathiani to Bihadu, people have to travel extra via Bangana or have to take the help of motorboats.
