Gold Prices Fall by ₹9,356 in a Week; Silver Also Declines: Check Latest Rates

New Delhi: Gold prices have fallen by ₹9,356 to ₹1,21,518 per 10 grams in a week. It had hit an all-time high of ₹1,30,874 on October 17.

According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of gold fell by ₹1,836 today, October 24. Earlier on Thursday, its price was ₹1,23,354 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, silver saw a decline of ₹4,417 and was sold at ₹1,47,033 per kilogram. Yesterday, it was priced at ₹1,51,450 per kilogram. This represents a decline of ₹31,067 from its peak.

IBJA gold prices do not include 3% GST, making charges, and jeweler’s margin. Therefore, rates vary across cities. These rates are used by the RBI to determine the rates for Sovereign Gold Bonds. Many banks use them to determine gold loan rates.

This year, gold became costlier by ₹45,356 and silver by ₹61,016.

So far this year, the price of gold has increased by ₹45,356. On December 31, 2024, 10 grams of 24-carat gold was priced at ₹76,162, which has now risen to ₹1,21,518.
The price of silver has also increased by ₹61,016 during this period. The price of one kilogram of silver, which was ₹86,017 on December 31, 2024, has now risen to ₹1,47,033 per kilogram.

Keep these 2 things in mind while buying gold

1. Buy only certified gold: Always buy certified gold that bears the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark. This number may be alphanumeric, such as AZ4524. Hallmarking indicates the caratage of the gold.

2. Cross-check the price: Cross-check the exact weight of the gold and its price on the day of purchase with multiple sources (such as the India Bullion and Jewellers Association website). Gold prices vary depending on 24 carat, 22 carat, and 18 carat.
