New Delhi: Gold and silver prices saw a sharp rise on February 23. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), 10 grams of 24-carat gold rose by ₹3,154 to ₹1,58,220. Previously, its price was ₹1,55,066.
The price of one kilogram of silver rose by ₹13,761 to ₹2,64,075. Previously, silver was ₹2,50,314 per kilogram. Experts believe that prices may rise further in the coming days.
How much has gold become expensive so far this year?
So far in 2026, gold has become costlier by approximately ₹24,000 and silver by ₹33,000. On January 29th, gold touched an all-time high of ₹1.76 lakh and silver ₹3.86 lakh per kg.
Record Increase in 2025
The price of gold increased by approximately ₹57,000 (75%) throughout 2025. The price of 10 grams of gold was ₹76,000 on December 31, 2024, and rose to ₹1.33 lakh by December 31, 2025.
Silver increased by ₹1.44 lakh (167%) during the same period. The price of one kg of silver was ₹86,000 on December 31, 2024, and reached ₹2.30 lakh per kg by the end of the year.
Gold could reach ₹1.80 lakh
According to investment bank UBS, central banks worldwide purchased 863 tons of gold in 2025, and this purchase could reach 950 tons in 2026. Investment in gold ETFs is also expected to increase.
According to the report, gold could reach $6,200 per ounce by mid-2026. In Indian currency, its price is estimated to reach ₹1.80 lakh per 10 grams.
