    Gold and silver prices rise on February 18: Silver jumps ₹4,000, gold sees a slight increase

    New Delhi: Gold and silver prices rose on February 18. According to the India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA), silver prices rose by ₹4,000 to ₹2.37 lakh per kg. Previously, it was at ₹2.33 lakh per kg.

    Meanwhile, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold rose by ₹98 to ₹1.52 lakh.

    Record Rise in 2025

    Precious metals have delivered strong returns in 2025. The price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold was ₹76,000 on December 31, 2024, and rose to ₹1.33 lakh by December 31, 2025, representing an increase of approximately 75%.

    Silver saw an even greater surge. Silver, which was priced at ₹86,000 per kg on December 31, 2024, reached ₹2.30 lakh per kg by the end of the year, representing an increase of approximately 167%.

    Earlier, on January 29, gold had reached an all-time high of ₹1.76 lakh and silver ₹3.86 lakh.

    A 10% decline is expected in 6 months

Prices are likely to fall by at least 10% over the next six months due to factors like the global economic slowdown, cryptocurrencies, and the decline in tech stocks.

    Always buy gold that bears the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark. This alphanumeric code (e.g., AZ4524) confirms the purity and carat of the gold.

    2. Check the price before buying:
    Before buying, be sure to check the current price from multiple reliable sources, such as the IBJA website. Prices for 24-carat, 22-carat, and 18-carat gold vary.
