Golden palanquin sent from India to Nankana Sahib; Departed from the Attari-Wagah border

A beautiful golden-finish Palki Sahib (palanquin) was sent from India to Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib in Pakistan—the birthplace of the first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji—via the Attari-Wagah border route. This occasion witnessed a unique confluence of religious devotion and the shared Sikh heritage of India and Pakistan.

According to reports, this Palki Sahib was commissioned by Baba Gurdev Singh Kulli Wale, a devotee (sevadar), under the inspiration of the revered Saint Baba Darshan Singh Kulli Wale. It was crafted specifically at the request of Bhai Mahesh Singh, a resident of Pakistan’s Sindh province, so that it could be installed at Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib to serve the visiting devotees.

Customs and BSF Complete the Process

The *Palki Sahib* was dispatched to Pakistan on Wednesday via the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, Amritsar. Officials from the Indian Customs Department—including Commissioner A.P. Chaudhary and Superintendent Ashok Kumar—along with BSF officers, oversaw the completion of the necessary formalities. Indian Customs officials facilitated the handover of the Palki Sahib to their Pakistani counterparts.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhai Bhupinder Singh Bhalwan, a Jatha leader from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), stated that the Palki Sahib would be formally handed over to the associates of Ramesh Singh Arora and Bhai Mahesh Singh at the Wagah border.

A Message of Love, Brotherhood, and Service

Religious organizations and devotees have welcomed this initiative, describing it as a symbol of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of love, brotherhood, and service to humanity. Devotees believe that such efforts play a significant role in further strengthening religious and cultural ties between the two nations.
