Golden Temple to decorate with 400 quintals of flowers for Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Granth Sahib

Amritsar, August 23: Grand decorations are being done at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on the occasion of the Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. On this occasion, the temple is being decorated with 400 quintals of flowers. The flowers include orchids, lilies, roses, gerberas, lotus and marigolds.

Flowers have been supplied from various parts of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Kerala, Pune, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Flowers have also been brought from abroad. These include Holland, Indonesia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Kenya and South Africa.

200 skilled artisans have arrived from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata for decoration. About 100 devotees have also gathered to help them. The artisans are making balls, chandeliers and chains from flowers. Symbols of Khanda and Ek Omkar are also being prepared in the form of special fringes.

Decoration will be completed on 24th August

According to SGPC secretary Pratap Singh, the decoration will be completed on 24th August. It is estimated that about 6 crore rupees will be spent on this decoration. This event is also important because the first Granthi Baba Budha Ji published the first edition of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. It was edited by the fifth Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Sri Ramsar Sahib, Amritsar.

Tomorrow, on 24th August, the first Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji will be celebrated. In which Nagar Kirtan will be taken out from Gurudwara Shri Ramsar Sahib at 7 am and will end at Shri Akal Takht Sahib. After this, the lights will be decorated and in the evening Deepmala and fireworks will be done.
