Gorakhpur Tragedy: MBBS Student Killed in Fortuner Crash, Left Hanging from Bridge Railing

Gorakhpur: An MBBS student riding a scooter died tragically after being hit by an out-of-control Fortuner in Gorakhpur. The student was returning to his hostel after celebrating Holi and eating dinner at a friend’s house. When a speeding Fortuner coming from the front hit his scooter on the Mohaddipur-Kauwabag overbridge, it struck him.

After the collision, it got stuck on the railing 15 meters away
According to eyewitnesses, the impact was so strong that the student was thrown into the air, struck the railing of the overbridge about 15 meters away, and was left hanging face down. People nearby rushed to the scene and a crowd gathered, but no one tried to pull him down. The student’s body hung from the railing for about 30 minutes. Later, the police arrived, took him down, and took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Friend Crying in the Hospital, Pleading, “Bring my friend back to life
Upon receiving the news of the student’s death, his friend Anoop rushed to the hospital and, upon seeing the body, burst into tears. He pleaded with the doctors, “Doctor, you are a doctor! Please bring my friend back to life.” Following this incident, fellow doctors created a ruckus at the hospital, but officials calmed them down by assuring them of action.

Fortuner Driver Caught Within an Hour
After the accident, the Fortuner driver fled the scene. Police, using wireless information, traced the vehicle about an hour later and arrested the driver, Golden Sahni. The vehicle is reportedly registered in his name.

The deceased student was the only son
The deceased, Akash Pandey (22), was a resident of Sant Kabir Nagar district and a third-year MBBS student at BRD Medical College. His father, Devendra Nath Pandey, runs a tent shop, and Akash was his parents’ only son. The family is inconsolable after receiving the news of their son’s death.
