Banswara: Despite recent repairs, plaster from the ceiling of the Government Senior Secondary School collapsed. Four female students sustained injuries in the incident, which occurred during class hours in the morning. Fortunately, the heavy section of falling plaster did not strike anyone directly on the head. The school building had undergone repairs costing approximately ₹10 lakh just about two years ago.



This incident took place on May 4th in Amarthoon, located in the Ghatol block of Banswara district.
The Collapse Caught Students Sitting in Class
Students were studying in the Class 11 Science classroom at approximately 9:15 AM on Monday. Suddenly, plaster broke away from the ceiling and crashed down. Four female students seated in the classroom were caught in the collapse. Debris was scattered across the tables and chairs. The incident was accompanied by a loud crash, which caused panic and chaos throughout the school. A large number of villagers also rushed to the scene.
Pooja, Kali Kumari, Sharda Kumari all residents of Chadla and one other student sustained injuries. They were immediately taken to the hospital. After receiving first aid, the girls were sent home.
The students sustained injuries to various parts of their bodies, including their backs and hands. Upon receiving news of the incident, the school Principal, Arun Vyas, immediately arranged for the injured students to be transported to the hospital and subsequently informed higher authorities about the matter.
According to villagers and the school administration, numerous memorandums, petitions, and survey reports regarding the dilapidated condition of the school building have been submitted on multiple occasions. However, no budget has been sanctioned for repairs to date.
Repair Work Had Been Conducted Recently
It is reported that the very classroom where the incident occurred had recently undergone repair work. Despite this, the incident of falling plaster took place. This raises questions regarding the quality of the construction work.
Several officials, including the SDM, came to investigation
When they heard about the incident, Chief District Education Officer Pawan Kumar Rawal, CBEO Keshavchandra Bamaniya, and Additional Block Education Officer Vikram Singh all rushed to the scene right away. After that, DEO Jaideep Purohit, SDM Mansukh Damor, Tehsildar Habulal, the Patwari, and the Girdawar all looked at the site. The officials told people to call in experts to look at the building, speed up the repairs, and come up with plans for building new classrooms and labs.
