Amreli: Two workers from Madhya Pradesh, including one 16-year-old boy, were allegedly burned to death after the passenger vehicle they were sleeping in caught fire due to a money dispute in Gujarat’s Amreli district, police said on Tuesday.
Around midnight, the two were sleeping in a Tufan passenger vehicle in a field on the outskirts of Gundaran village in Liliya taluka when the vehicle allegedly caught fire.
Ravi Baghel (16) and Nitin Pachaya (21), whose father and uncle are the complainants, Kamlesh Baghel, died in the incident.
Police have arrested two brothers, Vinod Dodiyar and Raju.
Rs 60,000 Payment Dispute
Officials said that the accused allegedly doused the vehicle in flammable materials and set it on fire. Both of the people inside the vehicle were trapped and died.
Police said that the incident happened due to a pending payment of Rs 60,000 for the vehicle that Vinod had bought on installment from the complainant.
However, Vinod allegedly defaulted on the installments and the original seller told the complainant to take back his vehicle.
The complainant reclaimed the vehicle around 10 days before the incident happened, which enraged the accused.
“The complainant had reclaimed the accused’s MUV 10 days ago. With this, Vinod Dodiyar and his brother plotted to set fire to the vehicle. The complainant’s son and nephew were sleeping in the vehicle and were charred to death,” officials said.
They added that the accused had not paid the remaining Rs 60,000 and decided to set the vehicle on fire.
Arrest of Two Brothers
Liliya police, higher authorities and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) arrived at the scene after the incident and started investigating.
Both accused brothers were arrested by police. Further investigation is happening to know what happened and if there are any other people involved.
A case has been registered in relation to the deaths under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Including Section 103(1) relating to murder.
