New PSPCL-PSTCL Chairman Gurkirat Kirpal Singh Directs Officials to Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply

Patiala: Newly appointed Chairman of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), IAS Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, on Friday visited the PSPCL headquarters in Patiala and held his first meeting with directors and senior officials of both corporations.

During the meeting, the Chairman conducted a detailed review of the functioning of PSPCL and PSTCL and sought information on several key issues, including power demand and supply in Punjab, power generation, power purchase, performance of existing thermal power plants, coal availability, transmission and supply arrangements and electricity bills.

Uninterrupted Power Supply Made Key Priority

Gurkirat Kirpal Singh made it clear that providing uninterrupted and reliable power supply to domestic and commercial electricity consumers across Punjab would be a key priority of the power corporations.

He also stressed that ensuring eight hours of uninterrupted agricultural power supply to farmers as per the prescribed schedule is an important responsibility of the power corporation.

The Chairman directed officials to make all necessary arrangements to further strengthen and streamline power generation, transmission and supply systems, keeping in view the electricity demand in the state.

Chairman Reviews Coal Availability, Power Generation

Singh directed officials to continuously monitor the performance of existing thermal power plants, availability of coal and the power purchase situation.

He also instructed officials to ensure the immediate resolution of issues related to domestic, agricultural and commercial power supply and to make field-level monitoring more effective.

The Chairman further called for prompt redressal of consumer complaints and continuous improvement in the quality of power services.

Chairman Invites Media Suggestions, Urges Consumers to Follow PSPCL Updates

Addressing print and electronic media representatives, Singh said their suggestions would always be welcomed and that media representatives could visit his office and meet him at any time.

He also emphasised the importance of social media and encouraged consumers to follow PSPCL’s official social media handles on Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube for accurate and timely information about new initiatives and government policies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairman directed officials of PSPCL and PSTCL to work in close coordination to further streamline power management and provide better services to consumers.

Director Distribution Eng. Inderpal Singh, Director Generation Eng. Punardeep Singh Brar, Director Commercial Eng. Harsharan Kaur Trehan, Director Finance, PSTCL, CA Vinod Bansal, and Heads of Departments of PSPCL were present during the meeting.
