Chandigarh: The Punjab Government’s seven-member Coordination Committee constituted in connection with the Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026 will hold a meeting in Chandigarh on October 6 at 12 noon to discuss the provisions of the amended legislation and related issues.
According to a Punjab Government meeting notice dated October 1, the meeting will focus on the Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026 and the suggestions received from Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

The committee will also discuss coordination with the panel constituted by Sri Akal Takht Sahib on matters related to the Act.
Seven-Member Committee to Hold Detailed Discussion
The seven-member Coordination Committee was constituted by the Punjab Government to maintain coordination with the panel formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib and to submit suggestions and reports on important matters concerning the Act.
The committee includes former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, Sant Baba Sewa Singh of Rampur Khera, retired Justice Jaspal Singh, retired Justice Gurbir Singh, former IPS officer Jatinder Singh Aulakh and law officer Preet Inder Pal Singh.
Suggestions from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to Be Discussed
The October 6 meeting will also consider the suggestions received from Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding the amended legislation.
The development comes after Sri Akal Takht Sahib had raised concerns over certain provisions of the amended Act and sought changes. The Punjab Government subsequently constituted the seven-member coordination committee to work with the Akal Takht-appointed panel.
The Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026 was enacted by the Punjab Legislature in April 2026 to amend the 2008 Satkar Act.
