Seven councillors who rebelled against the BJP and won the municipal corporation elections in Gurugram have rejoined the BJP. Five of these councillors are considered staunch supporters of Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh.
At a ceremony held at Kabir Kutir in Chandigarh, these councillors formally returned to the party by receiving the BJP’s turban from Chief Minister Nayab Saini and State President Mohanlal Badoli.
This development has created new dynamics in Gurugram Municipal Corporation politics and further strengthened Rao Inderjit’s position. The returning councillors include Parminder Kataria and Pradeep Param from Ward 35, Mahavir Yadav, Dinesh Dahiya, Avneesh Raghav from Ward 10, Councillor Representative Prashant Bhardwaj, and Gagandeep Kirod.
Of these, the BJP had expelled Parminder Kataria, Mahavir Yadav, Dinesh Dahiya, Avneesh Raghav, and Gagandeep Kirod for six years for anti-party activities. Bypassing the expulsion, he has now been included back in the party.
