Gurugram Encounter: Four Deepak Nandal Gang Shooters Killed, Three Policemen Injured

Gurugram: In a major crackdown on organised crime, four alleged shooters associated with the Deepak Nandal gang were killed in a late-night encounter with the Gurugram Police Crime Branch in the Sushant Lok Phase-2 area. Another suspected gang member was injured, while three police personnel sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire.

According to police, the operation was launched after the control room received intelligence about armed men moving in an SUV and planning to target the residence of a prominent businessman who had reportedly been receiving extortion threats from gangster Deepak Nandal, believed to be operating from abroad. When police reached the spot and asked the suspects to surrender, the accused allegedly opened fire, prompting retaliatory action.

How the encounter unfolded

Officials said the suspects had allegedly fired at the businessman’s residence before police intercepted them. A fierce gun battle followed, during which five suspected gang members were injured. Four were declared dead after being taken to hospital, while the fifth remains under treatment. Three Gurugram Police personnel also suffered gunshot injuries and are reported to be undergoing medical care.

Weapons recovered from the scene

Police recovered a cache of illegal firearms and ammunition from the encounter site. Forensic experts examined the area while investigators collected evidence to determine the gang’s operational network and any possible local support.

Deepak Nandal is a Haryana-based gangster believed to be operating from overseas. His gang has been linked to multiple cases involving extortion, targeted shootings and organised crime in Haryana and neighbouring states. Law enforcement agencies have conducted several operations against the gang in recent months, arresting or neutralising key associates in connection with extortion and firing incidents.

The latest encounter is being seen as one of Gurugram Police’s biggest anti-gang operations in recent months. Senior officials said investigations are continuing to identify other members of the network, trace the source of weapons and examine the gang’s involvement in previous extortion and firing cases. Security has also been strengthened in sensitive areas of Gurugram following the operation.
