Woman gang-raped in Gurugram, 2 accused booked

A shocking case of alleged gang rape has surfaced from Gurugram, where a woman accused two men of sexually assaulting her under the pretext of resolving a family dispute. The incident reportedly took place in the Pataudi–Helimandi area, prompting police to register a case and launch an investigation.

According to the complaint, the accused approached the woman claiming they could help settle her ongoing marital dispute and dowry-related issues with her husband’s family.

Lured on promise of compromise

Police sources said the accused gained the woman’s trust by offering to mediate and bring about a compromise with her in-laws. The victim, who had been living separately from her husband due to disputes, agreed to meet them in hopes of resolving the matter.

In October 2024, one of the accused allegedly took her to a hotel in Helimandi on the pretext of discussions, where she was raped.

Repeated assault and blackmail allegations

The victim further alleged that after the initial assault, she was repeatedly raped at different locations, including hotels and a house in Pataudi. The accused allegedly used threats and blackmail to silence her and prevent her from approaching the police.

She also claimed that when she resisted and threatened to report the matter, the accused issued death threats and continued to intimidate her.

Assault in public before filing complaint

In her complaint, the woman stated that when she finally decided to approach the police, she was allegedly stopped and assaulted by one of the accused and his associates in a public place. This incident further delayed her decision to file a formal complaint.

Eventually, with the support of her family, she approached the police station and narrated the entire sequence of events.

FIR registered, probe underway

Based on the complaint, police in Gurugram registered an FIR against the two accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of rape, gang rape, and criminal intimidation.

Officials confirmed that an investigation is currently underway. Authorities are verifying the locations mentioned by the victim and collecting evidence, including hotel records, to substantiate the allegations.

Police also stated that appropriate legal action will be taken after examining all aspects of the case.

Rising concern over crimes against women

The incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of women and misuse of trust in sensitive situations such as family disputes. Experts say such cases highlight the need for stronger awareness, quicker reporting mechanisms, and strict enforcement of laws.

Authorities have urged victims of such crimes to come forward without fear, assuring that their identity will remain protected as per legal provisions.
