New Delhi: Gurugram biker Sia, who was hit by a car on Golf Course Road last week, has questioned the law and order situation in the city and urged authorities to take action against motorists accused of rash driving.
Sia asked whether authorities would act only after a biker is attacked and killed, while also questioning restrictions imposed on bikers in Gurugram when motorists allegedly continue to engage in rash driving.
Sia Questions Action Against Rash Drivers
Speaking to reporters, Sia said, “Until a biker gets hit and dies, will law and order not wake up?” She questioned why restrictions are imposed on bikers while similar attention is not given to motorists allegedly driving rashly.
She said the car involved in the incident initially sped past her bike at high speed. Sia said she noticed the vehicle only after it passed very close to her and initially thought the driver might not have seen her or could have been in a hurry.
However, she alleged that the driver later stopped ahead, made gestures towards her and then came from behind, hit her and fled the spot.
‘Car Had Completely Tinted Black Windows’
Sia said that when the car’s windows were rolled down, she saw two people in the front. She added that, as far as she could tell, there were also two people in the back.
According to Sia, the car had completely tinted black windows, making it difficult for her to see clearly. She also said she could not look closely because she was riding her bike at the time.
She questioned why the driver would stop and gesture at her before allegedly returning from behind and hitting her.
Riding Gear Helped Prevent Serious Injuries
Sia said her protective riding gear helped prevent potentially more serious injuries during the incident.
She said she was wearing riding shoes and gloves designed to slide in the event of a fall, which helped protect her. According to her, without the protective gear, the way her hand hit the ground could have resulted in fractures to her shoulder or legs.
Sia also said the incident has been widely discussed since Monday, with people expressing concern over the alleged conduct of the car driver.
She questioned why the person she accused of hitting her was still free and speaking to media organisations about his defence.
“He hit a human being and left them on the road to die,” Sia said, questioning why police had not arrested the accused.
