Haryana CM Suspends 2 HSPCB Officials in Gurugram Over Pollution Control Concerns

Gurugram: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini ordered the suspension of two Regional Officers of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) during a review of development and pollution-control measures in Gurugram on Friday.

The two officials suspended are Akanksha, Regional Officer, HSPCB Gurugram North, and Mukul Kumar, Regional Officer, HSPCB Gurugram South.

The formal suspension orders issued by the HSPCB on October 2 state that both officers have been placed under suspension with immediate effect. The orders were issued by HSPCB Chairman Shekhar Vidharthi, IAS.

Akanksha, Mukul Kumar Suspended With Immediate Effect

According to the separate HSPCB orders, Akanksha, Regional Officer, HSPCB Gurugram North, and Mukul Kumar, Regional Officer, HSPCB Gurugram South, will remain headquartered at the HSPCB Head Office in Sector 6, Panchkula during their suspension.

The orders also state that both officers will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules.

The order concerning Akanksha carries Endst. No. HSPCB/Estt./2026/5875, while the order concerning Mukul Kumar carries Endst. No. HSPCB/Estt./2026/5876. Both orders are dated October 2, 2026.

Action Follows Gurugram Pollution Control Review

The suspensions came during a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Gurugram, where the progress of roads, drainage, sanitation, pollution control and other key development projects was reviewed.

Reports said complaints concerning pollution and environmental issues, including concerns raised by resident welfare associations, were brought to the Chief Minister’s notice during the review. The action against the two Regional Officers followed the review.

The Chief Minister has also stressed time-bound action and accountability from officials dealing with Gurugram’s infrastructure, sanitation and pollution-related issues.

Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar and Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma were also present during the review meeting.

HSPCB Officials Face Action Over Pollution Control

The action comes amid heightened attention on pollution control in Gurugram ahead of the winter season. The HSPCB has recently recommended closure of 34 construction sites in Gurugram for alleged violations of air-pollution monitoring and dust-mitigation requirements.

The latest suspension orders formally confirm action against the two regional officers responsible for the Gurugram North and South regions.
