Gurugram Clash: Lathicharge on Workers, 20 Injured

Gurugram, April 9: The situation worsened when police tried to control the gathering after prohibitory orders were imposed in the area. A clash broke out between workers and police, following which a lathicharge was carried out to disperse the crowd. Several people were injured in the incident, with reports suggesting that some suffered serious head injuries. During the chaos, angry protesters also set a police motorcycle on fire.

Strike Spreads Across Companies

The protest involved workers from more than 10 companies in the IMT Manesar industrial belt. Many women workers were also part of the agitation. Employees claim their salaries have not increased for years and they are demanding implementation of revised minimum wages, overtime pay, and better workplace safety. Despite the Haryana government announcing a wage hike recently, workers say the increase is not enough and are continuing their protest.

Authorities have deployed heavy police force in the area and discussions between officials, company management, and worker representatives are ongoing. However, no clear resolution has been reached so far.
