Hamirpur: Heroin recovered from taxi rider in Swahal, case registered under NDPS Act

15.52 grams of Chitta was recovered from a man travelling in a taxi in Swahal under Sadar police station. The accused was identified as Shashikant, a resident of Hamirpur.

The police produced the accused in the Hamirpur court. The court granted police remand to the accused till March 7. Based on a tip-off, the police had set up a check post near Swahal at around 4 am on Wednesday.

During this, the police stopped a taxi on suspicion and searched the passenger. During the search, a consignment of Chitta was recovered from the accused. The police registered a case against the accused under the NDPS Act.

The accused had reached Bhota with the consignment of Chitta from Hoshiarpur. After this, he hired a taxi from Bhota to his home. Superintendent of Police Balveer Singh said that the Hamirpur court granted police remand to the accused till March 7.
