Hamirpur: Imposters posing as Govt Officials take free Liquor, threatened license revocation

A case has come to light under the jurisdiction of the Sadar Police Station involving individuals who posed as government officials to intimidate staff and procure bottles of liquor from outlets without payment. Acting on a complaint, the police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and initiated an investigation into the matter. The complaint regarding this incident was filed by Saurabh Katoch, a liquor businessman residing in Hamirpur.

The complainant stated that certain individuals, identifying themselves as officers and employees of the State Excise Department, intimidated the staff at liquor outlets to obtain liquor and beer free of charge. He further explained that one individual would arrive in a BMW, while another would arrive in a different vehicle, and demand liquor and beer.

These individuals first visited a liquor outlet located at Mattansiddh on April 18, around 2:00 PM. Subsequently, on April 19, around 3:00 PM, they visited an outlet located at Bhira in the Barsar region. On April 24, around 7:30 PM, they returned to an outlet once again, arriving in the BMW.

They threatened the salesperson present at the outlet, warning that if their demands were not met, they would ensure the cancellation of the outlet’s license or have the staff implicated in false cases. Following these threats, the employees reported the matter to their superiors. Consequently, Saurabh has filed a formal complaint with the police, seeking justice.
