Hansi to Host District-Level Independence Day Celebration for First Time; CM Saini to Attend

Hansi: Hansi will host a district-level Independence Day celebration for the first time, with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini scheduled to attend the event as the chief guest.

The upcoming celebration has generated enthusiasm among residents, but severe waterlogging in several parts of Hansi has emerged as a major challenge for the administration ahead of the August 15 ceremony.

To review arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit and the Independence Day programme, Deputy Commissioner Dr Rahul Narwal and Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar, along with other officials, inspected several potential venues.

Government College Grounds and Grain Market Inspected

The DC and SP inspected the Government College grounds, which has traditionally hosted Independence Day celebrations in the past.

Considering the ongoing rainy season and the possibility of further rainfall, officials also inspected the Hansi Grain Market as an alternative venue for the programme.

The administration is assessing the available arrangements to ensure that the celebration can be conducted smoothly despite the weather conditions.

Waterlogging Poses Challenge Ahead of August 15

Waterlogging across the city has become a key concern for the administration ahead of the Independence Day celebration.

Even nearly 24 hours after heavy rainfall, water remained undrained in several important areas. Water accumulation on major roads and other prominent locations has affected movement and created difficulties for residents.

The possibility of further rainfall in the coming days has added to concerns ahead of the event.

Drainage Work Underway

The administration has made clearing the accumulated water and improving drainage a priority to avoid disruptions during the Independence Day programme.

A team from the Public Health Department, led by Executive Engineer Sanjeev Tyagi, is carrying out drainage operations across affected areas.

Officials and field staff are using pumps and other available resources to remove the accumulated water. However, several parts of the city continue to face waterlogging, and efforts are underway to bring the situation under control before the celebrations.

The administration is continuing to monitor the situation and review preparations at the proposed venues ahead of the district-level Independence Day programme.
