Farmers in Hansi Demand Drain Cleaning and Pending Compensation, Warn of Protest

Hansi: A meeting of farmers was held on Saturday at the Ramayan Toll Plaza in Hansi, Haryana. Many farmers from across the region participated in the gathering. During the meeting, the farmers raised strong demands regarding the cleaning of drainage systems, crop compensation, and pending payments.

Numerous farmers were present at the meeting, including Kailash Malik (Zonal In-charge of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhupur), Dashrath Malik, Naseeb Satrod, Sudhir Singhwa, Raju Kharad, Pradeep Bamal, Rajbir Mayad, Jogender Mayad, Sandeep Data and Kulwant.

Demand for Cleaning All Drainage Systems

The farmers stated that excessive rainfall last year had led to flood-like conditions in several villages, resulting in heavy losses to both crops and livestock. They demanded that the administration ensure the timely cleaning of all drainage systems before the onset of the upcoming monsoon season.

Furthermore, a prominent demand was raised to provide immediate compensation to those farmers who suffered losses to their crops and livestock due to incidents of fire.

Farmers Allege: No Payment Received Even After Crop Sale

The farmers also pointed out that despite their crops having been sold in the ‘mandis’ (markets), the payments have not yet been credited to their bank accounts; they demanded that these payments be released immediately. Additionally, a demand was put forward to provide temporary electricity connections to farmers in those villages where floodwaters had remained stagnant for extended periods last year in order to provide them with relief.

The farmers issued a warning that if swift action is not taken to address their demands, they would be compelled to resort to agitation.
